I love this book and I still have it in my library. This book has so many beautiful ties and knots guaranteed to liven up any kind of routine technique. Some of these tires are so simple and easy to remember that you'll see him one time and be a master at it already. Also a lot of these steps are so easy to follow it's very hard to get lost. I would like to see more steps and more pictures for each of the ties. I do like how some of the ties build off of a previous one. This is a very good beginners book and I recommended to anybody who's looking to get into Shibari and willing to learn some awesome rope techniques.
This is a great book fior novice that are starting out and those continuing tier knowledge of rope bondage. It not just only show rope tying and designs, it explains the roles between the ropee and roper. The are plenty of pictures and details to help you become very good and on your way to mastery of the rope bondage. I would definitely get the other books.
Very informative book, great for beginners
This is a shibari book that doesn't talk down to you. You aren't limited to easy ties - everything is on the table.That said, it's very well planned. In the front is a glossary of sorts - of different ties and techniques, each of which is then coded with a legend icon. Those icons appear in later, more complex ties. In effect, it gives you all the basic tools you need, and then applies them where appropriate. The effect is an uncluttered guide, but one which doesn't pull any punches in getting the right ties in there.In addition, the safety guidelines in the front are really a must-read for anyone interested in shibari. Much of it makes sense... but some - like techniques for avoiding damage to the radial nerve, to pull one example - are probably unknown to a number of readers.Everything is well illustrated, with attractive models, printed on high-quality glossy color paper. If you like or are interested in shibari, and you're at any skill level below advanced, you'll enjoy this book thoroughly.My one complaint - I wish a few more ties had made it in. However, Douglas Kent has other books in his series for that.
I was surprised to go from a manga-style cover to human nudity inside the book. That said, the information was great. It goes over safety concerns, as well as a variety of harnesses and other ties. Would've liked it to be more descriptive with the words, but having the step-by-step pictures is very helpful.
Very instructive
I still use this book, several years later - has some good ideas and each time I look at it after using it I have another idea how to play with the ties.
This is an excellent book for those interested in learning rope bondage. The instructions are easy to follow, the illustrations are extremely helpful, and this should be a part of everyone's rope bondage library. Strongly recommend this book.
